As a Campus Strategist for Perplexity at DePaul University, I’ve found it incredibly useful for academic research, saving time by providing precise and well-referenced answers. Overall, Perplexity AI is a game-changer for information retrieval, bridging the gap between traditional search and AI-driven knowledge synthesis.

I have perplexity pro and this app does a bit of everything but is good at nothing. I often find it struggling with understanding basic things. It often lies by saying I can’t do this or that when it did the exact thing in just last step. I think the level of hallucination in this app is pretty noticeable. It often struggles with basic nuance of human speech and is just all around a headache to use. AI is not really useful when it’s so challenging to use that you think you could have just done it yourself manually without the headache. Which brings me to the funny point, it often asks me to do the computing or data compiling or the menial tasks saying it can’t do it (it can). Well if I do that what do I need you for? While it supports all the latest models, I think the actual official ChatGPT and grok apps do a better job. I have to go to ChatGPT FREE version to complete botched tasks perplexity pro struggles with and to grok app FREE for reasoning because it is so difficult to get perplexity to stay neutral. It’s often condescending and in an effort to challenge user, it just needlessly keeps arguing for its position instead of providing simple facts. I have tried asking it to turn on robot mode but it didn’t seem to do anything. As a casual user who isn’t a coder or anything and just use AI for day to day assistance, i think if you are going to pay money for a subscription, just stick to chat gpt or grok.

I am using Perplexity from the past six or seven months. It is a loyal friend supporter to me in every situation in my workplace. I recommend to those who are exactly looking for one solution particularly. Even today, I haven’t faced any issue while using Perplexity and it is very user-friendly and I am very happy to use this Perplexity and I have recommended to my colleagues. My family members to use it. It is far more better than the competitors in the market, I have used all the other competitors, but I am happy with Perplexity and I am very proud that I am a member of Perplexity users.
