These directives are not maintained and misleadingly indicate individual rather than community ownership.

LGTM for argparse.

This also makes me wonder if we should go through Lib/ and purge author/maintainer comments at the top of files as well? 🤔

LGTM for email. I suppose technically Barry should speak for himself as the original principle author, but I doubt he'll object either.

@nedbat Did you check if all removed names are on Misc/ACKS?

I think they should be added there if not present. It seems a better place to say "thank you" than the git history.

LGTM for the logging and venv stuff. However, I'm not sure about a blanket application of

if we should go through Lib/ and purge author/maintainer comments at the top of files as well?

I still maintain (heh) an interest in the logging and venv code and documentation - by no means proprietorial, but certainly parental 😄 - so names in the documentation aren't always misleading or out-of-date.
