  • The Training Team has identified a shortage of content creators and is seeking ideas on how to attract more dedicated contributors. Input is especially welcomed on encouraging local content creators who can translate existing English materials into their native languages, helping expand the reach and accessibilityAccessibility Accessibility (commonly shortened to a11y) refers to the design of products, devices, services, or environments for people with disabilities. The concept of accessible design ensures both “direct access” (i.e. unassisted) and “indirect access” meaning compatibility with a person’s assistive technology (for example, computer screen readers).   • The Training Team is planning to organize upcoming workshops and is seeking community input on topics that would be most valuable and relevant.     @rfluethi asked whether there is a standardized certificate for the Beginner WordPress User (German) cohort, including the availability of Debora’s template, guidance on signing, and best practices for issuing certificates, @devmuhib confirmed that Debora’s certificate template still exists and will follow up on how certificates should be signed and issued.

Content Creation

Are you interested in creating content? If so, then creating content related to WordPress 6.9.

Content Translation

Are you interested in translating content? If so, then translating content related to the Localization Foundation project is our priority today. Do you speak Spanish, Japanese, German, French, Hindi, or Italian? Join us in localizing content for these languages, along with 8 others. We also have courses focused on onboarding contributors that will assist in the WordPress mentorship program:

Content Reviews

Are you interested in editing content? If so, then reviewing content waiting to be published is our priority today.

Start by finding a piece of content to review in our content development board. This GitHub view has filtered all content waiting for reviews before it is published. Follow the team’s Guidelines for reviewing content and leave your reviews right there in GitHub.

Subject Matter Expert

A subject-matter expert is someone who has extensive knowledge in a particular field or area and can provide advice, guidance, and direction in that subject. If you would like to help vet topics, please visit the Vetting Topic Ideas handbook page.

Triage Developer Issues

Are you a developer interested in working on issues for the Learn website? If so, then working through our Website Development project board is our priority today.

Start by reviewing issues “In Review”. Any help you can provide regarding issues “In Progress” would be great, too. But in general, any attention you can give to any issue would be much appreciated.

If there are enough interested Developers, then we can also create a developer-focused working group so that they can focus on related issues.

Cross-team collaboration opportunities  

Share your thoughts or ideas on how the Training Team can collaborate more effectively with other Make WordPress Teams, such as Marketing, Documentation, and others.

The Training Team would like to inform contributors that Coffee Hours will be temporarily removed from the meeting tables for the upcoming month. This decision has been made to ensure that the team can allocate adequate time and focus toward planning, organizing, and delivering more workshops, which continue to be a key area of interest and growth for our contributors.

Workshops require coordination between content creators, facilitators, reviewers, and administrators. At the moment, our available admin resources are limited, and prioritizing workshops will allow us to continue supporting our community effectively. Once we onboard or confirm additional team admins who can assist with hosting and facilitating these sessions, we fully intend to reinstate Coffee Hours.

  • The content translation process in the Training Team could use some improvement. Currently, our lessons rely on transcripts as their main written content. However, these machine-generated transcripts are often difficult to understand. We originally included them to ensure there was at least some content alongside the video, which could then be translated into different languages.
  • Since all lesson videos are hosted on YouTube — which already provides a strong transcription system — we don’t need to manually translate these transcripts. Instead, we’d like to provide high-quality written content that is directly related to each lesson.
  • We understand that video lesson producers may not always have enough time to create this text content themselves. In those cases, another contributor could watch the video carefully and create accurate written content.
  • We are prioritizing this change because we’ve received feedback from members of the disability community who reported that translated transcripts often fail to convey the original meaning or ideas of the lesson. We consider this an accessibilityAccessibility Accessibility (commonly shortened to a11y) refers to the design of products, devices, services, or environments for people with disabilities. The concept of accessible design ensures both “direct access” (i.e. unassisted) and “indirect access” meaning compatibility with a person’s assistive technology (for example, computer screen readers). (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Accessibility) issue and want to ensure our lessons are inclusive. By providing well-written, human-curated text content, we can better support learners with hearing impairments, enabling them to fully engage with the material.
  • Also, thanks to @vasantrajput we will start the project to update all the excerptExcerpt An excerpt is the description of the blog post or page that will by default show on the blog archive page, in search results (SERPs), and on social media. With an SEO plugin, the excerpt may also be in that plugin’s metabox. (part of the text visible on the archive page) for the content translated in other languages than English.

Thanks to @devmuhib, we are giving our best to help WordPress Campus Connect and WordPress Credits programs. That is why we must recheck all the content they are using, which is previously created on learn.wordpress.org.

  • The Training Team identified a need to improve the current content translation process. Presently, machine-generated transcripts are used as the primary written content for lessons, but these transcripts are often unclear and difficult to understand. Although they were initially included to support multilingual translation, the approach is no longer efficient.
  • Since lesson videos are already hosted on YouTube with a reliable transcription system, the team plans to shift from transcript-dependent content to providing high-quality written material directly aligned with each lesson. When video creators are unable to produce this written content, designated contributors may assist by reviewing the videos and generating accurate text.
  • This initiative is being prioritized based on accessibilityAccessibility Accessibility (commonly shortened to a11y) refers to the design of products, devices, services, or environments for people with disabilities. The concept of accessible design ensures both “direct access” (i.e. unassisted) and “indirect access” meaning compatibility with a person’s assistive technology (for example, computer screen readers).   • Collaboration with the Polyglots teamPolyglots Team Polyglots Team is a group of multilingual translators who work on translating plugins, themes, documentation, and front-facing marketing copy. https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/teams/. will continue to help streamline and strengthen the translation process moving forward.

  • Additionally, an important update has been shared on the Polyglots P2P2 P2 or O2 is the term people use to refer to the Make WordPress blog.   • This collaborative effort aims to improve multilingual content and translation review workflows. Special thanks were given to @chaion07 and @devmuhib for driving this initiative forward.
