Dear community,
I have Ubuntu 22.04 system, on which i am trying to configure ntp with v4.2.8p17 from source code. As Ubuntu 22.04 repository has ntp with latest v4.2.8p15 .
after downloading 4.2.8p17 package from official site. i did ./configure and make install as per standard procedure. But unable to locate ntp.conf after building.
Kindly help if anyone has build the latest ntp version.

The source does not include a default ntp.conf, but ntpd by default does look for an ntp.conf file in /etc. That file will already exist if your distro ships with ntp or you install your distro's ntp package. You can use ./configure --prefix=/usr to install over the system's ntpd.
