• I’ve noticed that a site I recently created since the release of 6.8 has a horizontal “Drag to resize” bar in the middle of the editor screen, with page meta beneath and blocks above. I find it incredibly annoying to use as it limits my view of either and I prefer to just scroll to what I need rather than move the pointer to where I need to scroll again and scroll more.

I’ve also noticed any sites that existed before 6.8 and have just been updated, work in the old way, which suggests it’s a preference somewhere. Can anyone help me to find where I can switch off this new behaviour?

Update to WordPress 6.8.1, where this change has been reversed.

Sorry, I didn’t see this for some reason. I have just installed a brand new version 6.8.2 and it is still there. It seems to only appear on new installs for me, anything installed before 6.8 and subsequently upgraded to 6.8 and beyond doesn’t suffer the issue.

It is so annoying. At first i thought it is a plugin that activated the feature until i see this post. The bar even prevented some chrome extensions (that works for post textarea like grammarly) from working. We have to copy the text out to other tools to edit and return it back. Please wordpress should add option to get rid of this feature if not wanted.
