The page of a plugin my organization relies heavily on shows a message that it is not available for download. “This closure is temporary, pending a full review.

Who is doing the review? The plugin author? WordPress Foundation? An independent expert? I searched, but could not find a description of the procedure behind this. I understand that an exact time frame cannot be given, but what to expect in general? Weeks, Months?

If anyone can give me an idea that would help me to make decisions. We have not yet found an alternative that is easy to migrate to. What adds to out worries is that the website for the commercial version of the plugin is unstable and they do not respond to support requests.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

The review is carried out by the plugin team. Here: https://make.wordpress.org/plugins/

The reason, content and duration of the review are not discussed publicly as it may involve sensitive issues. However, the plugin author has been informed and may need to make adjustments to the code of the plugin depending on what the plugin team tells them.

Since the plugin has only had this status for a few weeks, I would recommend that you wait a little longer. If you are unsure about continuing to use the plugin, please express this to the plugin author (e.g., in the form of a support forum entry there) and, if necessary, look for an alternative plugin.

A parallel commercial plugin is not checked by the plugin team as it is not part of the WordPress repository. If you are unsure about this, please contact the developer of this plugin first. If they sell it, they must also provide support for it and should deliver the appropriate quality. Please note that commercial plugins are not part of the topics covered in this forum.

Thanks for clarifying, @threadi, I had not searched make.wordpress.org and developer.wordpress.org. But it looks like this all very well organized.

The plugin author has not responded to anything anywhere for years and their own forum is read-only. But I will make another attempt and follow your advise to wait a little longer.

And yes, I do understand that wordpress.org has to stay away from commercial plugins. However, for me, a volunteer creating WordPress sites for non-profits, the so-called freemium business model for plugins and themes is both very useful as sometimes confusing.
